Tamaqua fire bug is sought

Tamaqua police were called to 124 Race Street around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday after someone set a carpet ablaze on the front porch of the home.

Neighbors were quick to extinguish the fire at the intersection of Bowe and Race sts. before it could spread. Two people were home at the time and didn't know about it until they heard their neighbors outside.Neighbors reported seeing a "shadow covered" thin boy running away from the fire.Police encourage anyone with information concerning this incident to call them at (570) 668-5000.
