On Thursday evening, June 14, the Lehighton Band will begin the 2012 series of "Concerts Under The Stars."

At this program, the band will have as their special guests the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band. The concert will begin in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.Beginning the program will be the Prep Band of the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band.Under the direction of Jacki DePue, the band will play several selections including "La Bamba" and "Carnival Of Venice."The Prep Band is the beginner band of the organization. Their portion of the program will be followed by combining the Prep Band with the Senior Band to play one selection: "Do Wah Diddy Diddy."DePue will then lead the Senior Band in several numbers including "Beyond The Wind," "Call To Victory March" and "Beyond The Seven Hills."A special feature of this section will be the playing of "Remembering" written and conducted by band member, Peter Petrack.Next on the program will be the Lehighton Band, under the direction of Paul R. Smith, playing "The Gladiator March" by Sousa. This will be followed by "Castlebay Overture" and in honor of Flag Day, "Patriotic Pageantry," a medley of familiar patriotic tunes.The band will conclude their portion of the program with two numbers, selections from the Broadway show "The Producers" written by Mel Brooks and the march "A Bridge Too Far."Finally, the Lehighton Band and the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band will combine to play several selections including "Genius March," "Jamaican Farewell" and "God Bless The

U.S.A."These numbers will be conducted by DePue followed by Smith directing the band in another tribute to Flag Day: "Irving Berlin' Songs For America" and closing with the "Star Spangled Banner."This concert is sponsored by businesses, professional people and music lovers from throughout the Carbon County area.In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Boys and Girls Band Hall, Sixth and Cypress Streets, Lehighton.
