Juries returned verdicts in three of five criminal trials that started Monday in Schuylkill County court with two defendants charged in traffic in illedgal drugs found guilty.

Jaimie M. Koch, 47, of Pine Grove, was found guilty of four counts including delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge John E. Domalakes deferred sentencing to a later date.Koch was arrested after selling two glacine packets of powder to a confidential informant (CI). The powder tested for methamphetine. Key witness for the Commonwealth was Det. Stephen Mizzer, who works in the district attorney's office.The CI said he set up to make the buy was a Kathy Boyer, of Schuylkill Haven, against whom he dismissed drug charges and she voluntarily agreed to work with the law officers. The exchange of $100 for the two small packets was made on the evening March 16, 2011, in a cemetery in Pine Grove Township.Koch did not take the witness stand in his own defense, counting on two friends as character witnesses, who told the jury Koch had a good reputation in the community he worked and participated in charitable drives.Kaska Delana Brennan, 27, Shenandoah. was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.Key witness for the Commonwealth was Chief Shawn Tray, West Mahanoy Township police, who made the arrest on Memorail Day in 2011 at 290 Florida Ave., in thetownship. Judge Jacqueline Russell deferred sentence to a later date.Edward James Schoener, 20, of Minersville, was found not guilty by a jury of a charge of simple assault.Deborah Geist testified he struck her whlle they were patrons in Lazarchick's Bar in Minersville last Nov. 1. Schoener claimed it was an accident. He claimed his back was to the victim and he raised his hands while demonstrating a point and accidentally struck the victim.A jury of 11 women and one man believed his story. Judge John E. Miller, after the verdict, dismissed a summary charge of harassment.Other trialsTwo trials which started Monday are expected to be placed in the hands of the jury today.Clark Emmanuel Mead, 24, Kulpmont, is on trail before President Judge William E. Baldwin facing 10 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, two counts each of corruption of minors and endangering welfare of a child, and one count of indecent assault, which were brought by Patrolman Robert Minnick, McAdoo police. The victims were boys ages four and five years for whom the defendant acted as babysitter while their mother went to work.Kyle C. Kent, 32, Mount Carmel, is on trial before Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin on charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, stalking, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and harassment. The victim was Melissa Kent, Girardville, his wife.
