Dog licenses

Schuylkill County treasurer Jackie McGovern reminds residents that 2012 dog licenses are now available and the state dog warden is currently canvassing Schuylkill County to ensure compliance with the state law.Dogs 3 months of age or older must be licensed by law. Licenses are valid through Dec. 31.Licenses may be obtained at the county courthouse in Pottsville, by mail, online at

www.padoglicense.com or at a variety of licensing agents.Locally, those agents include AAA at 202 E. Broad St.; Tom's Auto and Marine, Greenwood Street and Mountain Avenue; and Koch's Farm Service in the Lewistown Valley.Once a pet has been licensed, owners may register at

www.palostdogs.com. This free service allows owners to post a digital photo and information in the event their pet is lost.For more information, call McGovern's office at (570) 628-1433.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met April 10 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 48 members in attendance. One new member, Anna Mae Yushinsky, was welcomed.President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports and inspirational readings were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. Birthday greetings were extended to Neal Flexer. A get-well card was sent to Jane Springer and a thank you card was received from the family of Margaret Matsago.The annual banquet will be held May 8 at the Ryan Township Fire Company. Dinner will be served at noon and will be catered by Christy Joy.The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join. Due to the general election, there will not be a meeting on April 24.SS. Peter and PaulFirst Holy Communion rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m., April 30, in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
