Bloodmobile plannedSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a bloodmobile visit from the Miller-Keystone Memorial Blood Bank on Saturday, April 21. The bloodmobile hours will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.The drive is being held in memory of the late Paige Rex, a longtime parishioner of the church who played a key role in the church's sponsorship of bloodmobiles in the past. She passed away on Oct. 28, 2010.Shade Tree plansThe Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission continues its biannual tree plantings in the spring and fall in the parks and streets of the borough.The Spring Arbor Day plantings and ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 28, at 9 a.m. and will consist of memorial and honorary trees.Those who will be memorialized during this year's program include noted late historians Joseph Arner, Joe "Buck" O'Donnell and Joseph McDermott.For more information about the program, contact Dr. Louis Vermillion, (570) 645-9772, or

Zacarda, a retired pastor from Catasauqua, will be the guest minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, April 22. He will preside at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.Cleanup continuesSummit Hill Borough's annual spring clean up program will continue next week on Tuesday, April 24.Refuse will be picked up by the sanitation contractor that day on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads in White Bear.Among the discarded items that will be picked up are five tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items must have all chemicals removed from them and residents must tag them with a notation stating that the chemicals have been removed. Also, doors must be taken off refrigerators and freezers.In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will also be taken by the contractor.
