PIC to meet

Pride in Chestnuthill (PIC) will be setting up dates for spring cleanups at its meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 8, at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building on Route 715.Because of the relatively mild winter, the trash discarded by thoughtless drivers can be seen on the roadsides.PIC extends its thanks to the homeowners who regularly pick up trash in front of their properties.Since PIC is a small group of volunteers, consisting of mostly senior citizens, any help is appreciated.Residents are invited to join the group at the next meeting or call the township at (570) 992-7247 for more information on clean up dates.PV School BoardThe Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in the district office in Brodheadsville.Lions convergeMembers of the Effort Lions Club, Western Pocono Lions Club and Western Pocono Lioness Club were among those in attendance at a zone meeting held this past Saturday in Stroudsburg.All Sports ClubPleasant Valley School District's All Sports Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 12, in the high school library.Silver TappersAppearing at the Chestnuthill Senior Center at Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville Wednesday, March 14, at 9 a.m. is the group known as the Silver Tappers.Registration for the free event can be made at (570) 420-3735.Volunteer soughtThe Garden of Giving in McMichaels is seeking a volunteer who can also serve as the board treasurer.Anyone able to serve in that capacity is asked to call the Garden of Giving at (570) 402-1282 for more particulars.Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday.Effort UMWEffort UMC's United Methodist Women will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 12, in the church's Wesley Hall.Leading the group for the coming year are Kay Charbonnier, continuing as president; Joyce Aylsworth, continuing as vice president; Dee Juris, re-elected as treasurer; and Tonya Robinson, secretary.Generous donorsPleasant Valley High School held a successful blood drive recently.As a result, the school can boast that due to the 89 units collected, 267 patients in need of lifesaving blood products can be helped.The high school is to be listed in the March 20 USA Today's Red Cross Thank You Page due to its excellent work.
