Four placed in Carbon Co. probation program

Four defendants in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if the fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year.Gregory Paul Krum, 23, of Drums, Luzerne County, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. He was arrested on Oct. 7, 2011, along Plane St., in Weatherly, by borough police. Given a test, the result was .13BAC.Matika ordered he pay $400 for the cost of the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommedation for treatment, license suspended for 30 days, and render 50 hours of community service.Michael A. Raposo Jr., 22, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of retail theft. He was arrested on April 30, 2011, by Lansford police for an incident at the Turkey Hill store. Taken was merchandise valued at $5.29.He was ordered to pay $350 for the program, make retstitution of $5.29, and render 25 hours of community service.Christian J. Reinmiller, 38, of White Haven, was placed on a charge of DUI. He was arrested on July 25, 2011, along Plane St., in Weatherly, by borough police. Given a test, the result was .08BAC.Matika ordered he pay $350 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, and render 50 hours of community service.Bryan Erick Strohl, 20, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on March 26, 2011, at Beltzville State Park in Franklin Township by park rangers.He was ordered to pay $500 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant was also ordered to pay court costs which average near $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
