Members of a Slatington family have been informed of the death of Spec. 4 John Edward Nierer of Walnut Street. U.S. Army officials reported that the serviceman was killed last Thursday in Vietnam action. Nierer, 20, was a member of Company A, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 25th Division. He was a son of Edward and Sabina Williams Nierer of Slatington, and the husband of Diane Linda Remaley. Before entering the service, Nierer was employed by Two Guys of Allentown as a truck driver.
