Chestnuthill Township holds reorganization meeting

The slate of Chestnuthill Township supervisors and township appointments for 2012 were announced at Tuesday night's reorganization meeting.

Supervisors are Chuck Gould, chairman; Dave Fleetwood, vice chairman; and Chris Eckert.Township manager is David Albright. Secretary/treasurer/office manager/open records officer is Cathy Martinelli. Merton Whitney is roadmaster.The CPA/Firm to audit 2011 books is Riley and Company and the CPA Consulting Firm is Zelenkofske Axelrod.The following were unanimously approved for one-year term appointments:Sewage Enforcement Officer: H.M. Non-union employees 2012 IRS rate of mileage reimbursement is 55.5 cents per mile.The following township employees received wage increases:Roadmaster Merton Whitney, $1.20; administrative assistant, Andrea Kennedy, 72 cents; comptroller, Rusty Lotruglio 94 cents; zoning and codes officer, Walter Hansen, 94 cents.Non-union department head employees received a 4 percent raise. That would include David Albright ($1.29), Cathy Martinelli ($1.29) and Merton Whitney ($1.20.)Board meetings will be held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. Plans will be reviewed at the first meeting of each month.Monday mornings there will be department head meetings at 7:15 a.m. and work sessions at 7:30 a.m.Authorization was given to Cathy Martinelli to pay bills on due dates to avoid late charges, along with payroll.Resident Leon Clark wanted it noted that he believed it was a conflict of interest for there to be duplicate appointments and was concerned about the union raises given "since inflation is relatively nil."Resident Stuart Thoady asked if there was going to be any money in escrow in the budget to be used toward a township anniversary celebration. Cathy Martinelli responded that they didn't know yet and Supervisor Chairman Chuck Gould said he thought there would be something there for it.Dave Fleetwood thanked the township staff for their hard-work, the public for their comments and suggestions, and the volunteers for their time, "especially during the hurricane. A lot of folks helped us at their own expense, over the last year.""I would like to echo Dave's comments," Chris Eckert said, "and I applaud the staff for the grants we were able to obtain. It's a great accomplishment."Chairman Gould said he also echoed Fleetwood's and Eckert's comments."I thank the public for showing up and bringing your concerns. We respect your input. We look at everything you bring us."
