Three enter guilty pleas
Three persons in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Thursday.
Judge Steven R. Serass accepted the pleas from the following:
Gary Scott Rex, 25, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI), a first offense. He was arrested on Nov. 9, 2011, along Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .10BAC.
Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommedation for treatment, and render 25 hours of community service.
Guy Francis Hartman, 48, of Ashfield, pleaded to one count each of DUI and driving under suspension-DUI related. He was arrested on Aug. 26, 2011, along SR209 in Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of marijuana in his system.
Serfass deferred sentencing.
Raymond Matthew White, 25, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Nov. 26, 2011, along Bridge St., in Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .09BAC.
Serfass sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation, and render 25 hours of community service. He began the jail term immediately.
Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
