Marian's Nietz named first-team All-State

Frank Nietz of Marian was the only area player selected to the 2012 Pennsylvania High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State teams that were released this week.

Nietz, a sophomore outfielder, was named to the Class A second team.For the season, Nietz had a .406 batting average, scored with 20 runs, knocked in 12, and stole 26 bases.Thirteen other District 11 players made the All-State teams.In Class AAAA, Cody Kramer of Northampton and Pat Donnelly of Bethlehem Liberty were on the first team.In Class AAA, Jacob Tobin of Pottsville and David Rosenberger of Allentown Central Catholic were named to the first team and Ryan Smale of Allentown Central Catholic made the second team.In Class AA, P: Shane Simpkins of Notre Dame of Green Pond; Jared McCabe of Pine Grove; Aaron Fritz of Minersville; Tyler Buskirk of Pen Argyl; Chris Palubinsky of Shenandoah and Cole Weachock of Minersville made the first team. Conor Gum of Pen Argyl was named to the second team.In Class A, Taylor Luckenbill of Nativity made the first team.
