A McAdoo woman is facing a charge of robbery and related counts stemming from the robbery of a convenience store in Luzerne County.

State police at Hazleton said Valeria A. Weston, 27, was arrested at her residence.

The robbery occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Joe's Choice Convenient Mart, located at 544 SR93, in Sugarloaf Township.

Troopers said at the time a woman entered the store and obtained a carton of Farmer's Ice Tea from a cooler.

She then walked over to the cash register and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk started to empty the cash register when the woman reached over the counter and took the money. The female got away with $221 and the ice tea.

Video surveillance was obtained and showed the suspect was wearing what appeared to be a blue in color sweatshirt that included a hoody.

The hoody had two white stripes from the shoulders to the cuffs on the arms. This was also a design on the left breast. The dark colored pants also had some sort of design on the upper left pant leg.

The investigation led to Weston. Found in her vehicle at her residence was the hoody used in the robbery.

Troopers said Weston admitted that she was responsible for the robbery and said she did it due to a drug habit.

She was arraigned before a district judtge and committed to the Luzerne County prison.
