Lansford AMVETS facing LCE charge

The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited the Lansford AMVETS Home Association, 201-203 W. Ridge St., for violating state liquor laws.

Police said the violation happened on Aug. 31 when Section 493(26) of the Pa. Liquor Code was violated. The complaint alleges the association issued checks or drafts in payment for purchases of malt or brewed beverages when it had insufficient funds in, or credit with, the institution upon which the check was drawn for the payment. The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50-1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought, and can also mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.
