David C. Savage of Palmerton was awarded the Forest Conservation Award. Savage is a member of Palmerton Boy Scout Troop 41.

The Forest Conservation Award is bestowed to a Scout who has earned the Forestry Merit Badge and two other related badges such as Bird Study, Weather, Insect Study, Wilderness Survival, Wood Carving and Nature.Frank P. Snyder, service forester for the Bureau of Forestry, State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, his Scout Master David M. Savage and assistant Scout Master David Hawk presented the award on Dec. 12 to Savage at their Troop Court of Honor at the Holy Trinity Church, Palmerton.The Forest Conservation Award program is sponsored by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry. The Award recognizes Scouts who show an interest and desire to learn more about the forest resources in Pennsylvania.The Bureau of Forestry has enlisted the help of Boy Scouts of America Minsi Trails Council to promote the program.Snyder said Savage earned the Forestry, Environmental Science, and Reptile and Amphibian Study Merit Badges to be bestowed the award.
