Tamaqua man given jail time for two break-ins

A Tamaqua man was given a jail sentence for burglary of two business places in Tamaqua and was one of 18 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges and were sentenced in Schuylkill County court by President Judge Willilam E. Baldwin.

Damon Lee Cluff, 18, of 245 Cedar St., on charges of burglary of Tommy's Italian Specialty Shop and Padora's Six Pack House, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison and received credit for serving 23 days.He was also ordered to pay $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), and make restitution of $180.20 to the Italian Shop, $250 Padora's and $2,770.94 to State Auto Insurance Company for smashing window in front door of Padora's and damaging cash register. Hahn, 19, of 8 Cherry St., Tamaqua, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (CS) was placed on probation for 12 months, and ordered to pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $491 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Hahn was cited by Tamaqua Sgt. Richard Weaver.Matthew Thomas Edmonds, 22, Hazleton, formerly of Lansford, on a charge of possession of a CS and drug paraphernalia when cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse, was placed on probation for 12 months to run consecutive to a sentence of 12 months probation imposed by the court in September for possession of a CS in Tamaqua. Edmonds also must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restittion of 113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Thomas Joseph Gaughan, 49, rear, of Blaine St., McAdoo, on charges of harassment of Tammy Shock, Tamaqua, exgirlfriend, by leaving text messages on her cell phone and being disorderly in front of McAdoo's Mayor Watko's home was sentenced to a total of 24 months on probation, and pay $50 to CJEA.Gaughan was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell, for the harassment charge and by McAdoo Patrolman Anthony Divirgilio, for the disorderly conduct.Steven Frederick Davis, 37, of 416 S. Cleveland St., McAdoo, on a charge of retail theft of television set and Blu Ray entertainment system from Walmart Store in Rush Township was placed on probation for 24 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $1,498.84 to the store. Davis was cited by Patrolman Corey Herring.Donna L. Austerberry, 46, Minersville, on a charge of using another person's credit card without permission was placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $3,705 to John Steckler, the victim. She was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers.Justin M. Neff, 26, Minersville, on a charge of theft of a motor from Sheetz Convenience Store, SR61, South Manheim Township, was placed on probation 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $219.99 to the store. Neff was cited by Trooper Thomas Hornung.Brandon Marvin Merwine, 24, Gordon, on a charge of criminal attempt to commit theft from a motor vehicle was given credit for serving 20 days in the county prison and was placed on probation for 12 months. Merwine was cited by Butler Township Chief Edward Tarantelli.Patricia Louise Brennan, 64, Pottsville, on a charge of retail theft of four clothing items from Bon-Ton Department Store, Schuylkill Mall, Frackville, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $240 to the store. Walters, 25, Ashland, on a charge of altering or forging an inspection certificate was placed on probation 18 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On a summary charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $300 plus $50 costs. Walters was cited by Ashland Patrolman Anthony Kankowski.Howard Eric Harbaugh, 51, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Yoder.Vincent Michael Cavallo, 21, Mountain Top, on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance in Shenandoah, was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison and is to report to the prison on Monday, Nov. 21, at 9 a.m. to begin his sentence. He was also ordered pay $100 to SAE fund, and make restitution of $426 to the state police lab in Reading. Cavallo was cited by Trooper Roy Greenawald.Joseph Fredder Risteski, 35, Pottsville, on a charge of retail theft of DVDs from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $211.25 to the store. Leskin.Christopher Allen Renninger, 26, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of DUI of drugs was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison with the sentence to begin Monday, Nov. 28, at 9 a..m, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to the SAE fund, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, make restitution of $743 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center.On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana he drew a concurrent sentence of 15 to 30 days confinement, for possession with intent to deliver drew a concurrent three to 23 months sentence and on a charge of possession was given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence. Renninger was cited by Corporal Rahn A. Richards, state police, when stopped on SR901 in Branch Township, and $500 found on his possession was forfeited to the district attorney's office.
