Hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year? One of your guests' first impressions is your front door, so make sure it is warm and welcoming.

It's not too late to create a silk floral wreath, filled with the glorious hues of an autumn afternoon.For this wreath, you will need a grapevine wreath, approximately 16-18 inches in diameter; a selection of lush, silk floral stems; some wire-edged ribbon in a coordinating shade; a few pheasant feathers; wire and a pair of wire cutters. You may also want to add small faux pumpkins or gourds to your wreath in place of some of the florals.Place your wreath on a large work surface. Take your florals, feathers and faux pumpkins, and place them on the wreath until you have an arrangement that you are happy with. (We decided at this point to use more of the silk flowers and eliminate the pumpkins, but it is a matter of personal preference.)If you have a digital camera, snap a photo of your layout and use it as a reference as you wire your flowers into place. If not, you will just have to eyeball the layout and move things around until you create a pleasing combination.Using the wire cutters, trim the stems from the florals, but leave enough to weave the stem into the grapevine wreath. If it is not sturdy enough on its own, use a piece of wire to fasten the stem to the wreath. Continue in this manner until you are happy with the arrangement, but be sure to leave room for your bow. Add your feathers and pumpkins, if you wish to use them in your arrangement.With the wire-edged ribbon, fashion a large bow, leaving at least two feet on either end. Take a piece of wire, 14-16 inches long, secure it to the center of the ribbon, and then secure the ribbon to the wreath. Fashion a loop with wire at the back of the wreath to hang your creation on your front door.Be prepared to welcome your guests and to accept all the wonderful compliments!
