He is so well-known and has such a following; Gibson created a guitar modeled just for him which has helped him create his signature sound all these years. His signature guitar is the hollow Gibson Byrdland. The Nuge started his musical endeavor with The Amboy Dukes in 1965. They had a few hits which sold moderately well and the band soon became known as Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes. This incarnation of the band did not last long and soon The Nuge was out on his own.He signed a first rate backing band and went on to release a slew of albums and some of his most popular hits. Eventually, the members of the band began deserting Ted and he soon found himself bankrupt due to poor management and several failed business ventures.Continuing on with his solo career, he decided in the late 80's to join a new rock supergroup. This was the birth of the supergroup Damn Yankees. This group had 2 eclectic members: Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and Tommy Shaw (Styx). "High Enough" was their smash hit power ballad and the album, Damn Yankees, sold 5 million copies. Ted eventually dropped Damn Yankees and forged ahead with his solo career.Along with his musical prowess, Ted also has a large amount of media appearances over the years. He is an avid hunter as well and has a wildly popular show called Ted Nugent Spirit of The Wild. It is a show on the Outdoor Channel dealing with hunting, fishing, trapping and shooting. He has starred in a number of other programs over the years on VH-1, Versus, CMT and Fox Cable News Network.Glenn Beck uses Ted's version of The United States National Anthem on his show. It features alternate picking and whammy bar effects.Along with the reality shows, he has also appeared on Miami Vice, Heavy Metal Summer, That 70's Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and he played a key role in Toby Keith's movie "Beer For My Horses." He is also an avid writer and he has 2 New York Times Bestsellers: "God, Guns and Rock 'n' Roll" and "Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto."Ted has his own beef jerky line called Gonzo Meat Biltong and is also anti-drug and anti-alcohol and he serves on the board of the NRA.The 2011 Ted Nugent I Still Believe Tour is slated to include the return of former bandmate Derek St. Holmes."The fun factor was just too much for us to ignore!" said Nugent. The Voice of Stranglehold, St. Holmes first came to Nugent's attention when he opened for the Amboy Dukes in 1974.When Nugent went solo the following year,St. Holmes was hired as the lead singer. He soon found himself playing to sold out venues in the U.S. and worldwide as part of the Ted Nugent Band, performing upwards of 300 dates per year.Following the historic Cal Jam II in March of 1978, St. Holmes headed off for his own solo musical adventure, but again collaborated with Nugent on the Spirit of the Wild record and tours in 1995 and 1996. He has often joined Ted on stage over the years for impromptu jam sessions, and at Nugent's record-breaking 6000th performance July 4, 2009 in Detroit.Tickets are available online at
