'Going Hog Wild' is the theme for annual Carbon County Fair

The annual Carbon County Fair along Little Gap Road near Palmerton will be staged Aug. 10-14, with the theme "Going Hog Wild."

Among the highlights will be the return of professional wrestling, a concert by Elvis impersonator Ryan Pelton and The Difference Band, two demolition derbies, and a "fireworks spectacular."Pelton will be at the fair two nights - Friday and Saturday.Agriculture remains the key component of the fair with all types of 4-H exhibits and competitions. The nanual 4-H Lifestock Buyer's Auction will be staged on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. Sold will be swine, steers, and goats.The fair opens at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, with the opening ceremony from 4-6 p.m. During that span, there will be a fair queen crowning.Country singer Nicole Donatone, who has just completed recording a CD and who has opened for such stars as Willie Nelson and Randy Travis, will be in concert at 7 and 9 p.m. opening day.Giving a booming welcome to the fair on opening day will be a "fireworks spectacular" at 10:15 p.m.Children's Day is Thursda, Aug. 11. A bicycle give-away will be held at 8 p.m.The oldies band Remember When performs at 5, 7, and 9 p.m.A demolition derby is slated for 7 p.m.On Friday, Aug. 12, The Cramer Brothers will be providing country music at the fari at 5, 7, and 9 p.m., while Brooke Unger entertains at 8 p.m.Also, an antique field stock tractor pull will be held in the arena.The weekend lineup continues on Saturday, Aug. 13, with Penn's Peak Radio and TV deejay "The Doctor" getting things going at 5:30 p.m.Ryan Pelton, who has portrayed Elvis Presley in a major movie, will be on the main stage at 7 and 9 p.m.In the arena, the second demolition derby will occur at 6 p.m.The fair closes Sunday, Aug. 14 with a horsh show at 8:30 a.m.Pro wrestling action will take place at 4 p.m., with the Tracy Lee Band entertaining at 4:30.Pelton returns for another night of musical fun with shows at 7 and 9 p.m.
