Representatives of the Pennsylvania Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (PACVB) recently spent two days meeting and visiting the historic town of Jim Thorpe.
PACVB is the not-for-profit association for the officially designated tourist promotion agencies (TPAs) within Pennsylvania. The group works to communicate the importance of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry to the state's economic wellness.They meet once a year at a different location in the state of Pennsylvania for what is called a "membership roundtable." During these meetings, they discuss how visitors bureaus all over the state can work together to better promote tourism. The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau hosted the Jim Thorpe gathering.They stayed at the Inn in Jim Thorpe during their visit to Carbon County, and enjoyed visiting the restaurants and various shops of downtown Jim Thorpe.Tourism is the second leading industry in Pennsylvania which is the fourth most visited state in the nation.
