Filmmaker Noah Berlow, a Palmerton native, is taking a deep breath this week and appreciating that fact that he's living out his dream of making movies that tell great stories through the art of film.

Two of his projects will debut this coming week, a music documentary on cable television and a feature film going into national release."The Journey To Avalon" is a one-hour documentary premiering on May 16, 10 p.m. on VH1's HDTV - Palladia TV (locally on Blue Ridge Cable Channel 359). The show offers a rare glimpse inside the mind of legendary hard rocker Sully Erna as he shares his most intimate feelings about the power of music and shows you a decidedly different path in his life both musically and spiritually.Viewers are taken behind the scenes with the Godsmack front man and four-time Grammy nominee during the making of his solo debut album AVALON. The program features live performance videos of such songs like "Sinners Prayer", "My Light", "7 Years" and more.Featuring a seven-piece ensemble of world class musicians, "The Journey to Avalon" provides an emotional ride, reminding us why music is truly a gift to us all.Berlow is also the editor of a new feature film, "Video Girl," which is scheduled to be out in limited release in select AMC theaters, including Los Angeles and New York, on May 20. Lorie Walker (Meagan Good) attends a ritzy private school in a small southern town.Raised by her grandmother, Valerie (Ruby Dee), she often daydreams of becoming a professional dancer. After a chance meeting with a renowned music video director, her lifestyle changes completely. She finds herself struggling to stay grounded in this new, provocative, glamourous world.The son of Sarina and Bernie Berlow of Palmerton, Noah is a 2000 graduate of Palmerton Area High School and a 2004 graduate of Ithaca College's Park School of Communications with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cinema & Photography.After moving to Los Angeles, Berlow worked for three years as the co-head of Post Production for Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation with the goal of educating the world to the dangers of violence and ethnic hatred. As an editor, he contributed to Spielberg's educational mission by working on documentary videos, online interactive documentaries, and educational products which have received worldwide exposure, and multiple Telly Awards.Berlow's role as the editor on the Foundation's Award Winning Documentary/ DVD-Rom, "Recollections," helped it to win a 2007 BAFTA Award, in the category of Best Learning for Secondary Education.He moved on from Spielberg's team to produce and edit a feature film, "Revolution," working with three Best Picture Oscar winners, including the writer of "The Deer Hunter," Quinn Redecker.In 2007, Berlow became an editor and co-producer of another award winning documentary film, "The 1959 Burst," featuring interviews with Les Paul, Slash, Billy Gibbons, and many other Rock & Roll legends. The film won "Best Documentary" at the 2007 Hollywood Fame Awards, as well as the 2008 Phoenix Music Awards.Over his career Berlow has directed and edited short documentary videos for major artists and celebrities throughout the entertainment industry including Van Halen, Def Leppard, Ricky Martin, Serj Tankian, Green Day, Amy Winehouse, Taylor Dayne, Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, Mya, Kelly Osbourne, Ke$ha, Panic at the Disco, Adam Lambert, and John Mayer.He has also directed and edited previews to television programs, including "The Real World: Hollywood, The Hills," "The Girls Next Door," "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars." Other feature films that Berlow has edited include "Chatterbox," "Kiss the Bride," "Trinity & Terror Trap."Noah is currently working on two new documentary films, one on flamenco dancing in L.A. and the other on the author of "You Can Heal Your Life," Louise Hay.Berlow finds his editing and directing skills in high demand in fast-paced L.A. as he continues to work as a freelance director/editor for RollingStone.com and USmagazine.com.
