Candy, pizza and the Easter bunny

Local Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts collected candy again this year to donate to the Jim Thorpe Food Pantry.

The event was sponsored by Troop 555. Approximately 40 Scouts attended the event last week to make up individual bags of candy.The candy bags will be given to parents who visit the food pantry, so that their children will be certain to receive a treat on Easter morning.Ray Squire, right, vice president of the Jim Thorpe Food Pantry, as he's done for years, came to collect the bagged candy.Also this year, Albert "Butch" Strubinger, left, also a St. Joseph's parishioner, donated a pizza party for all of the Scouts and families in attendance.The Easter Bunny hopped in to thank the Scouts for their help.
