A Coaldale man was arrested after allegedly threatening his 15-year-old son with a gun as the two argued over a computer.

Police were called to the home of Thomas Bowman, 47, of 304 Ridge Terrace, on a report of a man with a gun threatening his 15-year-old son. Upon arrival, Lansford police met Coaldale police Officer Jeremy Paul Talanca at the home. The 15-year-old had fled the home and a 5-year-old child stood in the doorway.Talanca quickly pulled the child out of the house and placed him next door.Bowman was arrested and placed in the rear of the police cruiser.Talanca spoke with Bowman's wife, Theresa Conway, who told him there were no weapons in the house. Talanca advised her that if she was lying she could be charged. Conway then led Talanca to a bedroom closet where a .22 revolver was found.Conway told police Bowman and the boy had argued and that the next thing she heard was the boy running from the house screaming "He has a gun!"Conway told police Bowman exited his bedroom with the gun and hid it because he knew police had been called.Talanca took Bowman to the police station, where they were met by Conway and both children. Conway gave Talanca permission to speak with the 15-year-old in her presence.The boy told Talanca he and Bowman had been arguing over a laptop and that he had used profanity toward Bowman. He said Bowman stood up, opened his dresser, pulled out a weapon and pointed it at him, saying "All right, come on, then."The 5-year-old did not witness any of the incident.Bowman told Talanca he did not display the gun but hid it before police arrived.Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services agency was notified due to the nature of the incident and the deplorable conditions inside the house.
