Blakeslee man faces charges after nabbed by predator group

Pocono Mountain Regional Police reported Thursday they were alerted to a potential sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl the previous night which resulted in the arrest of a Blakeslee man.

Police said John Keen, 33, was taken into custody at about 9:13 p.m. Wednesday and charged with criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit sexual assault and criminal use of a communication facility.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel J. Kresge of Bartonsville, who set bail at $25,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28.

In a report released by Chief Chris Wagner, he said police were dispatched to 146 Ryans Road in Blakeslee regarding a group known as “Predator Poachers” having confronted a male in regards to an Internet sting they had established on Keen.

Police said during the sting Keen sent inappropriate sexual communications to a person believed to be a 13-year-old female and also communicated a plan to meet and engage in sexual activity with the teen.

Police said when Keen arrived at the location, he was confronted by the “Predator Poachers” group, who summoned police through 911. Wagner said Pocono Mountain Regional Police then conducted an independent investigation with the evidence provided and took Keen into custody.
