Route 209 was closed to traffic early Thursday morning in Franklin township due to a motor vehicle crash. The accident occurred just before 5 a.m. north of the intersection with Hemlock street. A motorist apparently lost control, entering the south berm and snapping off a utility pole. The vehicle reentered the roadway, coming to rest on its roof. Franklin Township firefighters assisted at the scene while the fire police maintained traffic control shutting down the roadway. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
