Historical societyThe Summit Hill Historical Society will meet tonight at 7 o'clock at the museum on East Ludlow Street. Lee Mantz, president, will be in charge of the session.The agenda will include discussions on a computer and peripherals; the Memorial Day weekend, including the society's float for the parade; and various fundraisers.Lions to meetThe Summit Hill Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkview Inn.This will be the club's last regular meeting before summer.Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president will chair the session.The guest speaker will be Rosemary Porembo, superintendent of Panther Valley Schools.Also, the club's scholarship winners, Kristen Halenar from Marian and Abigail Markovich from Panther Valley, along with their parents, will be guests.League to meetThe Anthracite Little League will hold a meeting on Sunday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the Summit Hill Borough Building.President Roobhenn Smith will be in charge of the session and encourages all officers, coaches and parents to attend.Bloodmobile plannedSt. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a bloodmobile for the Miller-Keystone Memorial Blood Center on Tuesday, May 25, from 2-7 p.m. in the church hall.A goal of 35 pints has been set.For more information or to register, call Chris Reiber, (570) 645-3822, or Joe O'Gurek, 645-5171.Crime watchThe Summit Hill Crime Watch committee will meet on Monday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the Summit Hill Borough Hall.Scripture sharingThe weekly scripture sharing sessions of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will continue on Thursday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the rectory.LansfordUpcoming novenaSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, has scheduled a three-day novena in honor of St. Rita of Cascia for Thursday through Saturday, May 20-22.The novena will begin with a Mass at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, followed by Mass at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, after which time Anointing of the Sick and novena prayers will take place.The novena will conclude on Saturday, May 22, with a 9 a.m. Mass, followed by the blessing and distribution of roses.The church choir will participate during the novena.
