Twenty-seven first time offenders placed in ARD probation program

Twenty-seven people who were cited with their first criminal offense were given a break by District Attorney James P. Goodman and were placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program.

If they complete the program successfully their record will be wiped clean.Judge John E. Domalakes placed the following in the program for a year, unless otherwise noted:Michael John Bailey, 24, Hamburg, who was cited by Cpl. Mark O'Toole, Pottsville police, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, was assessed $350 to defray cost of the program, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Shannique Bryan, 19, Bronx, N.Y., was cited by Lt. Patrick Carroll, of the Penn State Schuylkill Campus Police Department, with receiving an Ipod stolen from Jamine Owens valued at $50, was ordered to pay $350 to the program and $50 to CJEA.Elizabeth Iona Cohen, 38, Stroudsburg, was cited by Trooper Arthur Wink Jr. with possession of a small amount of marijuana found in her purse while she was attempting to visit an inmate at the state correctional institution in Ryan Township. She was assessed $350 for the program, $100 for SAE fund, $50 for CJEA and restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.Ilehne Majestic Liptok, 19, Pottsville, was cited by Trooper John Powers and charged with theft of jewely from Boscov's store in Pottsville and was assessed $350 and $50 to CJEA.Patrick J. Minnig, 19, Pottsville, was cited by Patrolman Charles Webber, Pottsville police, with criminal trespass on property of Stephen Puddu, 1239 W. Mahantongo St., theft of alcohol and consumable goods and criminal mischief by damaging a rug, was assessed $350 for the program, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $1,287.43 to the victim.Michael J. Najda, 55, Frackville, was charged by Trooper Michael Becker with retail theft from Bon-Ton Store, Schuylkill Mall, was assessed $350 for the program, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitutilon of $304.97 to the store.Ivonne Santiago-Adon, 19, Shenandoah, was charged by Patrolman Martin Sterner, Saint Clair police, with theft by deception was assessed $350, $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $225 to Home Depot Store.Amanda M. Anderson, 21, Lebanon, was charged by Cpl. Jeffrey Futchko, Pine Grove police, with driving under the influence (DUI) was assessed $500 for the program, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school, perform 10 hours of community service and her driver's license is suspended 60 days. On a charge of failing to drive on right side of road was fined $25 plus $50 costs.Brooke Elizabeth Boyer, 24, Orwigsburg, was charged by Patrolman William Horn, Schuylkill Haven police, with DUI and was assessed $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license was suspended 30 days. On a charge of driving while her license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs.Roger Lee Brensinger, 39, Pottsville, was charged by Trooper Eric Reber with DUI and was assessed $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, receive intensive outpatient counseling, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license is suspended 60 days. On a charge of illegal transfer of a registration plate and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 each plus $100 in costs.Bradley Marshall Brown, 20, Pine Grove, was charged by Patrolman Scott Davis, Orwigsburg police, with DUI and was assessed $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient counseling, perform10 hours of community service and driver's license is suspended 90 days.Cory Lee Challenger, 23, Tower City, was charged by Trooper Scott Coanshock with DUI and was assessed $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school, make resitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours community service and there is no license suspension.Justin Ryan Christman, 30, Auburn, was charged by Patrolman Gregory S. On a charge of violating a traffic signal was fined $25 plus $50 costs.Each defendant must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
