Mrs. Jones' ditty, "Wheels" recently came to life recently for the children attending PathStone Child Development Services, Carbon County Head Start, in Lehighton.

In the song, "Wheels," the wheels go round and round, round and round, round and round, all over town. But in Lehighton, the wheels that visited the children at Head Start were parked for the children to see.The "Transportation Day" event was organized by Ben Wysocki, a teacher at Head Start, to give the children a view into the world of wheels.Wysocki organized the event to give the children the opportunity to share their vehicles they use for transportation, work or pleasure, with the inquisitive children.There were 39 volunteers who participated in this event and 19 vehicles parked for the children to see.There was a Box Truck brought by

A.G.S. Advanced Green Solutions to teach about recycling, a demonstration on how to lift the roof of a 2006 Pontiac G6 Hardtop convertible, and demonstration by a UGI Gas truck and UGI Bulldozer. Then there was also a 2007 Nissan Sentra with Performance Music System playing kid songs that made the event seem somewhat like a street fair.The children also viewed a 2000 Dodge Dakota with an extended cab and brush guard, a bucket lift truck from Reed's Painting, and classic cars, such as a 1977 Corvette, 1969 Corvette Stingray, a 1969 Buick Grand Sport GS and a 1987 El Camino SS. Then there was also a 1998 Police Interceptor Security car which some children had the opportunity to sit inside, plus a 1987 250 Ducati 4-wheeler. There was also a shiny 2006 Harley Davidson Road King Motorcycle. Emergency service vehicles also were in demand. Bringing their rigs were Palmerton EMS Ambulance and Palmerton Wheelchair Van Rescue vehicle, Lehighton Township Police Car and Lehighton Ambulance 5617.
