Hydrant flushingThe Summit Hill Water Authority will be flushing fire hydrants from Monday through Friday, April 12-16.Residents may experience low water pressure or slight water discoloration during the process.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in town on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon.The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions as a service project. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m., and are distributed on the fourth Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m.For information about the pantry, call Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604 or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.Council committeesThe Summit Hill Borough Council operates on a committee basis, with members of the council serving in various capacities. Borough residents needing assistance in borough matters can contact any of the council members serving on the respective committees that have been appointed by Joseph Weber, council president:Streets and lights - John O'Gurek, Mike Alabovitz and Ken Boyd.Police - Boyd, Harry Miller and William Chapman.Recreation - Michael Kokinda, Chapman and Alabovitz.Borough hall and personnel - Alabovitz, Kokinda and O'GurekEmergency services - Chapman, Boyd and Miller.Sanitation - Miller, O'Gurek and Kokinda.Ordinance - Miller, Kokinda and Chapman.Handicap advisory board - Miller and Chapman.Finance - all members of the council.As president, Weber is a member of each of the committees.LansfordBorough councilThe monthly meeting of the Lansford Borough Council will be held on Wednesday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lansford Community Center, 1 W. Ridge St. President Bob Gaughan will be in charge of the session.
