The blessing of Easter baskets will take place at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, on Saturday, April 3, beginning at noon.The parish's Easter vigil will be held on Saturday at 8 p.m.Easter Sunday Masses will be celebrated on Sunday, April 4, at 8 and 10:30 a.m.Memorial MassThe annual Mass in memory of deceased members of the Panther Valley Golden Age Club will be held on Monday, April 12, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill. The Revs. Kenneth Medve and James Burdess will officiate. The public is invited to attend.OLOA registrationOur Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is currently accepting registrations for the 2010-11 school year. Parents can register their child weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the school. Other arrangements will be made if the times are inconvenient for parents, who can call (570) 645-7170 or 645-7101 for additional information.Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old by Oct. 15 following the September in which they will enter school. First graders must be 6 years old by that date.Parents registering their child(ren) must bring the child's birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunization records and a registration fee.P.V. Class of 2010 All Night PartyThe next meeting for the Panther Valley Class of 2010 All Night Party will be held Wednesday, April 7 at the Coaldale Complex on Phillips Street in Coaldale.The business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Afterward the committee will begin working on decorations and painting for the party.All parents are encouraged to attend and all suggestions are welcomed.Zion Lutheran ChurchMorning worship for Easter Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m. Visitors are always welcome. All are welcome to attend this service.Summit HillFood distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry conducts a monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions as a service project. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m., and are distributed on the fourth Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m.SH genealogySummit Hill residents having genealogy information that they wish to share with the Summit Hill Historical Society are invited to do so.
