It only took the Palmerton softball team two days to surpass last year's win total.

A year ago, the Blue Bombers managed to win just one of their 20 regular-season games.This year, the Bombers (2-1 overall) have already won back-to-back games.After beating Catasauqua on Wednesday, Palmerton came from behind to beat Lehighton, 10-4 in non-conference game Thursday afternoon.The Blue Bombers broke open a 3-3 game with a six-run seventh inning."That's what we didn't do last year," said Palmerton head coach Glenn Reimer. "We didn't put teams away. [Thursday], we put them away. We focused on making sure that once someone is down we keep them down."The Indians took opened the scoring in the second inning. Emily Kollar singled, stole second and and scored on an errant throw when she stole third.The Indians score another run in the second. Echo Bretz led off with a triple to left-center. After Kayla Heckman reached on an infield single and Bretz remained at third, Lauren Poremba laid down a sacrifice bunt to plate Bretz.Teammate Sarah Snyder followed with a single to right field, but the Indians left Poremba and Heckman stranded at second and third.The Bombers chipped away at the lead in the fourth and tied it in the fifth.In the fourth, Bomber second baseman Liz Raub reached base on a throwing error and scored on another error.In the fifth, Michelle Rickert led off with a single then stole second and third base on consecutive pitches. The Bombers' centerfielder came home on a wild pitch.In the sixth, the Bombers put two more runs on the board to go up 4-2 as both Jen Snyder and Rickert recorded RBI singles.Snyder pulled the Indians back within one after she drilled a triple to deep left-center. She scored on a Bomber throwing miscue a few plays later later that inning.While the Indians continued to threaten, the Bombers put the game out of reach in the sixth inning. They scored six runs on four hits, which included a Katie Reimer two-run triple, another Rickert RBI-single, a Sara Smiley RBI-single and a Vicki Graver single.Lehighton made three of its seven errors in the inning."It was a lot of things," said Lehighton head coach Todd Weaver. "It's a new philosophy. It's only our first real game playing as a team. We're young, but Palmerton is too. I think as we go on we will get better."For the second time this season, which is twice as many times as last season, the Bombers walked off the field with smiles."They didn't give up," Reimer said. "They just kept on fighting and they did whatever they had to to score runs. They put the ball in play. They bunted. They stole bases.
