Conservation Club

The Nesquehoning Conservation Club will hold a meeting on April 7 at 6:30 p.m., at MapleShade Meadows.Members are urged to attend this meeting as plans for the upcoming Children's Fishing Derby on May 8 will be finalized.The 2010 dues can be paid at the meeting or to any club officer.Don't forget to bring your Redner's Save A Tapes to the meeting.A thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped with the stream work this past Saturday.The club is planning another event for Saturday, April 10.Shade Tree plansThe Summit Hill Shade Tree Commission will be conducting its annual Arbor Day planting of memorial trees on Saturday, April 24.The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. in Memorial Park, adjacent to the Post Office.Trees will be planted in various parks in the borough and will be ordered in the next few weeks. Anyone wishing to purchase a tree in memory or honor of someone may contact Lou Vermillion, (570) 645-9772, or John Kupec, (570) 645-9466.The public is invited to the ceremony and volunteers are always welcome to help with the plantings. Since the Shade Tree ordinance was enacted in 2000, the commission and volunteers have planted over 400 trees in the parks and along the streets in Summit Hill.Community serviceThe Good Friday community service will be held on Friday, April 2, at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill.Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home.Commander W.
