Winter carnival

The Good News Club is sponsoring a Winter Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 2-4 p.m., at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m.All children between the ages of 2-11 are welcome to participate, but must be accompanied by an adult.The event is free and will include face painting, balloon animals and more.Writers conferenceThe Black Diamond Writers Network will conduct the region's first writers conference on April 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Schuylkill County Council for the Arts Center, 1440 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.Keynote speaker will be Kathryn Crofy, owner of Writing-Partner.com. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley.
