A Lehighton man was sentenced to a state prison term on Tuesday for drug dealing while another Carbon resident was sentenced to a long county term also on drug charges. They were among several defendants appearing in Carbon County court before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

Heroin dealingBradley Johnson, 59, was sentenced to serve a total of 24 to 48 months in a state prison in two cases in which he previously entered guilty pleas. He was sentenced to the prison term on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled subsance-heroin, possession and possession of a small amount of marijuana.Johnson was arrested after a search warrant was executed on his residence by agents of the state Attorney General's Office in December 2009. The charges also stem from a vehicle stop that occurred in Slatington, Lehigh County, but was transferred to Carbon as part of a ongoing investigation.Defense Atty. John J. Waldron told Webb that Johnson has cooperated extensively with the AG office in other investigations.Johnson told Webb, "I realize I made a terrible, terrible mistake. I tried to make up for it with my cooperation."In addition to the jail term Johnson was ordered to supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and zero tolerance was imposed on D&A use. He was given credit for five days spent in jail on the charges and began the jail term immediately.Franklin Twp. incidentTimothy David Kolb, 34, of Weissport, was sentenced to serve one day less than one year to one day less than two years in the county prison after pleading guilty to one count each of criminal use of a communication facility and escape.Kolb was arrested on Sept. 2, 2009, after making a sale of heroin to a confidential informant (CI) at a location in Franklin Township. After the sale was made agents of the AG office moved in to arrest Kolb and told him to remain at the scene. He fled in a vehicle but was later apprehended.Kolb told Webb he was glad he was arrested and jailed because it made him face up to his drug problem. "I realize what I have to do." He said he has taken all the classes offered at the prison to address his addiction problem and promised the court he would not return.He was also ordered to supply a DNA sample and pay the costs.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas included:Heriberto Vadi, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y., pleaded to one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested on May 8 by state police at Lehighton.He came to Towamensing Township with his 14-year-old son to get a 16-year-old girl and take her back to New York to reside with him and his family. He told Webb his son had told him the girl had permission to go with them when, in fact, she did not. The girl was later returned to her family.Webb placed him on probation for a year giving him credit for 26 days in prison on the charge.Irene Hetrick, 24, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy-theft. She was arrested on June 25, 2009, by Franklin Township police for the theft of medication from a vehicle. Another charge of theft was dropped in a plea bargain but restitution was ordered that case.Webb placed her on probation for a year and ordered total restitution of $1,361.98. She was given credit for 16 days spent in jail on the charge.Jason H. Jodon, 30, of Whitehall, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on July 13 at the Rite Aid store in the Carbon Plaza Mall in Mahoning Township for taking various electronic equipment valued at $239.05. All the items were recovered.Webb sentenced him to time served (56 days) to one year in jail and he was immediately paroled.Felisha Marie Alberston, 18, of Ranshaw, Northumberland County, pleaded to one count of simple assault. She was arrested on April 24 for an incident in Penn Forest Township involving Daniel Berger as the victim.Webb sentenced her to time served (32 days) to one year in jail and she was paroled.Terry Joe Bowen, 56, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was arrested by Lehighton police for an incident in which he rented a car from Tarone Blocker and failed to return it on the date required.Webb sentenced him to time served (14 days) to one year in jail and ordered restitution of $812 to Blocker.Dennis Waldron, 23, of Florida, formerly of Palmerton, pleaded guilty in three pending cases. He pleaded to one count of forgery and three counts of theft for incidents in Franklin Township that occurred in June and July of 2008 involving Country Inn & Suites, Alyssa Keller and Kristina Mertz as the victims.Police said Waldron forged travelers checks in the Country Inn incident to pay a bill and get cash. He also took cash from the other two victims.Webb placed him on probation for a total of two years on all counts and ordered total restitution of $2,078.94 and supply a DNA sample and pay the cost.All defendants must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
