Local woman's poem

is 'Thought for Today'

Every day we get a "Thought for Today" from Nashville promoter Marty Martel.

One this week was a poem written by a Mahoning Valley resident, Louise Pinkerton Fritz. She has been writing poetry for many years and has had he work published in many magazines and books.

The poem Martel sent is:

An old country garden! How great is its worth,

With vegetables planted and flowers interspersed.

A row of tomatoes, beans, parsley and peas;

Gladiola and dahlia among all of these.

An old country garden! What wealth it enfolds;

"Tis food for the body and food for the soul.

Special announcement

for Steeler fans

The WWE wrestling show "Monday Night Raw," which airs on the USA Network on Mondays from 9-11 p.m., might be of interest to some fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There has been a series of special guest hosts, which has included boxer Floyd Mayweather, Bob Barker of "The Price is Right," and even Rev. Al Sharpton.

Monday's host will be Steeler quarterback Ben Roethleisberger, who took his team to a Super Bowl victory last year.

The Steelers are off to a 1-2 start so far this season. You can be sure there will be some WWE stars ribbing "Big Ben" on that record. Hopefully for his sake, he'll lead the Steelers to a victory over San Diego on Sunday.

Incidentally, this episode of "Raw" is live from the Wachovia Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck

returning to 'The View'

ABC says Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be back on "The View" on Oct. 19.

Hasselbeck has been off the daytime talk show since Aug. 7 - two days before she gave birth to her third child, Isaiah Timothy. She's married to former NFL player Tim Hasselbeck.

Since then, her only contact with viewers was last Thursday, when she phoned "The View" to chat on-air with fellow hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar (BAY'-hahr) and Sherri Shepherd.

During Hasselbeck's maternity leave, numerous guests have filled in. Upcoming subs include "The Hills" star Heidi Montag, former "View" co-host Lisa Ling, "Ugly Betty" star Ana Ortiz, newly married TV reality star Khloe Kardashian and "Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco.
