Trooper's car strikes deer

A state trooper en route to a call struck a deer on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township on Thursday morning.

The incident, which happened at 6 a.m. as Dean Deem, 40, of Lehighton, was responding to an emergency call. His passenger, Michael E. Pahira, 27, of Lehighton, was slightly injured. Deem immediatley pulled off the highway after the incident. Both Deem and Pahira were wearing lap and shoulder belts.
