Luzerne driver facing charges

A Luzerne County driver, who led two police departments on high speed chases, was apprehended and is facing charges.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on Friday, May 7, Plains Township police in Luzerne County attempted to stop a Chevrolet Cavalier along SR115 for a hit and run accident. The pursuit was terminated due to excessive speeds.A short while later, about 5:05 a.m., Pocono officers observed the vehicle along 115 at SR940. The driver fled the officers and a short chase ended when excessive speeds were reached. The vehicle was later observed along Interstate 380 north.The driver was observed walking a short distance from the vehicle and was taken into custody. He was identified as Raheem Save Johnson, 25, of Wilkes-Barre. A search of Johnson revealed marijuana, crack cocaine and $706 in U.S. currency. Johnson was turned over the Plains Township police who also had active warrants for his arrest out of Luzerne County.Pocono police said charges are pending against Johnson.
