State police at Lehighton reported on the following driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers recently.

On Jan. 29 about 2:02 p.m. troopers stopped Kevin William Smale, 46, of Kunkletown, along Hideaway Hills Rd., in Polk Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest for DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

A Bangor driver is not only facing DUI charges but several other violations. On Jan. 30 about 9:44 a.m. troopers stopped Steven Troy Overpeck, 41, along SR209 bypass in Lehighton. He was found to be under the influence and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. Troopers said he was then transported to the office of District Judge JoLana Krawitz, of Stroudsburg, for a warrant issued for unpaid fines. He was later placed in the Monroe County prison in Snydersville at the direction of the state parole board for parole violations.

Also on Jan. 30, about 1:23 p.m., troopers stopped Ronald W. Vance II, 35, of Bartonsville, along SR209 at SR715, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.

On Jan. 31, about 7:47 p.m., troopers stopped Alyssa Eileen May, 19, of Brodheadsville, along SR209, south of Berger Hollow Rd., in Polk Township, for a vehicle code violation. She was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. She was also found to have in her possession drug paraphernalia, troopers added.

On Jan. 31, about 9:25 p.m., troopers stopped David Scott Judd, 44, of Kunkletown, along Gilbert Rd., in Polk Township, for vehicle code violations. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.

Also on Jan. 31, about 10:36 p.m. troopers stopped Sharon Ann Beinert, 60, of Kunkletown, along SR209 in Polk Township, for a vehicle code violation. She was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.

On Feb. 2 about 1:50 a.m. troopers stopped Eric Wenninger, 21, of Effort, along Glenwood Rd., in Polk Township, for a traffic violation. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. He was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.

Also on Feb. 2, about 10:30 p.m., Charles Sumpter, 54, of Kunkletown, was involved in an accident along SR534, near Barry S. Rd., in Polk Township. He was found to be under the influence and also in possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Palmerton hospital for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results. He will be charged with felon not to possess a firearm, troopers added.

On Feb. 3, about 3:30 a.m. troopers stopped William Schoener, 23, of Lehighton, in the parking lot of Lehighton High School, in Lehighton, after being observed committing traffic violations. He was taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. Charges to be filed, troopers said.

At 3:36 a.m. on Feb. 3 troopers stopped Allan M. Phillips, 23, of Effort, along Blue Ridge Rd., east of Shady Oaks Rd., in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.

At 3:39 a.m. on Feb. 3 Timothy Q. Parks, 25, of Saylorsburg, was in an accident in the area of 457 Little Gap Rd., in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. His vehicle left the road and went down an embankment, troopers said.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. Palmerton police assisted at the scene, troopers added.
