Adam Richard Haydt, D.O.

Adam Richard Haydt, D.O., of Palmerton was awarded the doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine at the college's 122nd commencement on Sunday, June 2.

Haydt is the son of Donna and Gary Haydt of Palmerton. He is the grandson of Althea and the late Warren Haydt and Barbara and Harlan Schaffer.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2009. He graduated from Palmerton Area High School in 2005.

Marnie Cunningham, Palmerton, was a member of the first class of students in the master of science in Physician Assistant Studies program at Misericordia University, Dallas, Pa., to receive their white coats at a special ceremony held recently in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

Students were presented with their coats and recited the pledge of a physician assistant, promising to adhere to the core values of honesty, integrity, altruism and empathy of the profession.

Emilio Beckett has two reasons to celebrate this summer. Emilio recently graduated from Marian Catholic High School and also has successfully completed the requirements for private pilot license. Emilio passed all phases of the exam three weeks ago. The FAA Exam has three areas of proficiency; oral, written and practical. The exam was taken at the Lehigh Valley Airport.

Emilio, 18, has been flying since he was 15 and soloed three days following his 16th birthday. Emilio' s Flight Instructor is Byron Arner. Byron Arner was recognized last year with the distinction of Master Pilot.

Steven Christ has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Lebanon Valley College. He is double majoring in music education and clarinet performance, and has completed his sophomore year.

He is the son of Mark and Audrey Christ of Hometown and a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.

Silberline Manufacturing Co., Inc., the global supplier of effect pigments with its corporate headquarters in Tamaqua, has announced that Angel Georgiev recently joined the firm as accounts payable associate.

Georgiev holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria. Additionally, he is a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College, where he earned an accounting certificate.

Georgiev currently resides in Lehighton.

Army Pvt. Peter J. Krebs has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Elise Argall, daughter of Dave and Beth Argall of Lake Hauto, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in international relations with a minor in near east languages and civilization.

While at Penn, the 2009 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School served as vice chair of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, interned with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security and volunteered with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project. During a semester abroad in Rabat, Morocco, she completed courses in intermediate Arabic.

Zachary Cinicola of West Penn Township has graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor of science degree in environmental biology. He is a 2009 graduate of Marian Catholic High School.

During his junior and senior year at Lock Haven, Cinicola interned at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center in Slatington. He completed two independent study projects, one using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and another related to substrate movements in stream flow, during his senior year.

Airman Shawn Hodge, son of Colleen Hodge, Junedale and Michael Hodge of Tamaqua, respectfully has deployed to Asan, South Korea.

He has completed six years of a twelve-year enlistment and previously served six months in Iraq.

Hodge holds various medals, employed by Ammunitions Control and also holds a military vehicle license.

He is currently in flight training and will also resume his studies in criminal justice.

His family prayerfully awaits his homecoming.

Ÿ Sarah Gardner, who is the daughter of Michael Gardner, Lehighton, and is a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School.

Ÿ Frank Hall who is the son of Frank Hall and Theresa Hall, Palmerton, and is a graduate of Palmerton Area High School.

A student earns dean's list recognition for achieving a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
