Two Summit Hill sisters have been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the respective colleges they attend.

Katelyn Collevechio has been named to the dean's list at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, where she is a junior majoring in speech language hearing pathology.

She is a 2011 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Hometown.

Nicole Collevechio has been named to the dean's list at Neumann University in Aston, where she is a freshman majoring in business administration.

She is a 2013 graduate of Marian Catholic.

Lieutenant Commanders Joseph Mitzen and Chad Trubilla were recently chosen by the Naval Surface Warfare Community's Command-at-Sea Board of Selection for future command at sea of a naval warship.

The Command-at-Sea Qualification is a rigorous process comprised of career milestones and examinations both written and before a selection board, assessing the tactical, seamanship, and command management acumen of eligible officers.

Morgan Steigerwalt of Jim Thorpe, received academic honors from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University by making the University's dean's list for the fall 2013 semester.

Undergraduate students who earn 12 or more graded semester hours during a semester in residence at ASU with a GPA of 3.50 or higher are eligible for the dean's list.

Allison Collevechio Fredericks, a 2002 graduate of Panther Valley High School, has been named Middle School Teacher of the Year for the Martin County School District in Florida. The presentation was made at a recent awards dinner held at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The daughter of Gwyneth and Kevin Collevechio, both of Lansford, Fredericks began teaching at Martin County's Anderson Middle School after graduating from Kutztown University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics.

Laura Walser of Tamaqua was among 76 Susquehanna University students named to the 2014 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Walser joins this elite group of students, representing more than 2,500 institutions of higher learning from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations. Students are selected for this honor based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

Walser is a senior Spanish secondary education major at Susquehanna.

Joshua Ambrose-Manness

Joshua Ambrose-Manness, son of Eleanor Marie Ambrose and William G. Manness of Tamaqua, has been honored by the United States Achievement Academy and named to the Who's Who in Leadership and Service for the 2013-2014 school year.

He is a junior at Tamaqua Area High School, who has been named to the honor roll throughout his school years.

The USAA offers its scholars the opportunity to apply for educational cash grants and scholarships. Student biographies are published in the USAA annual yearbook.

Kaitlin Maloney, a juris doctorate candidate, has been named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Del.

Maloney serves as the community service chairwoman for the George Read chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. In this capacity, she organized "The Jared Box Project," which collected and delivered over 50 gift boxes for terminally ill children at the A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington.

Maloney is also active in the Widener Women's Law Caucus.

Avery Day, daughter of Christopher and Kimberly Day of Jim Thorpe, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Penn State University.

Avery, a 2013 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School, is a freshman majoring in elementary education. Her GPA for the fall semester was a 3.69.

Alexia Follweiler, daughter of Michael and Brenda Follweiler of New Ringgold, and granddaughter of Raymond "Jack" Follweiler of Slatington, has been named to the fall 2013 semester dean's list at Lycoming College in Williamsport.

Alexia is a junior biology major, on the anatomy and physiology track, with a psychology minor.

Brendan McGowan, son of Michele Martz of Hazleton and Tim and Donna McGowan of Barnesville, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Temple University in Philadelphia. A 2012 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, he is a member of the Temple Owls football team.
