Reports are rolling in from around the area as conditions continue to worsen on the roads.

South Tamaqua had 17 inches as of 1:30 p.m. As of 12:25 p.m., Nesquehoning Borough had 17.25 inches of snow. Kidder Township had 20 inches of snow as of noon. Penn Forest Township had 15 inches of snow as of noon. Brodheadsville had 14 inches.Lansford and Jim Thorpe are both under a travel ban. Any non-essential personnel driving on public roads will be cited. Lansford has banned parking on Water, Kline, Snyder and Front streets, as well as the south side of Patterson Street (Route 209), the borough's snow emergency route.According to estimations from residents, around 14 inches of snow had fallen in parts of Summit Hill by 8 a.m., 10 inches in Tamaqua and 15 inches in Nesquehoning at 10:20 a.m.Crews were busy overnight responding to a fully involved dwelling fire on High Street in Nesquehoning.Nesquehoning, Lake Hauto, Lansford, Summit Hill and Jim Thorpe fire departments responded.Weatherly Fire Company was summoned to stand-by at the Nesquehoning station.Meanwhile, Kidder Township declared a state of emergency and noted that all state and local roads are impassable.In Jim Thorpe, the canopy over the deck at Mollie Maguires Pub and Steakhouse collapsed in the storm. All post offices with zip codes 169, 170, 171, 172, 173, 174, 175, 176, 177, 178, 179, 180, 181, 182, 183, 184, 185, 186, 187, 188, 195, and 196 have suspended delivery for Tuesday.Post office branches are also closed.The Postal Service asks that steps and walkways be cleared of snow and ice after the storm so that their letter carriers may resume delivery safely and efficiently.Icy areas should also be salted or sanded.Curbside mailboxes should be shoveled out enough so that carriers can deliver or collect mail without having to leave or back up their vehicles.
