Ryan Pelton

The annual Carbon County Fair along Little Gap Road near Palmerton will be staged Aug. 10-14, with the theme "Going Hog Wild."

Among the highlights will be the return of professional wrestling, a concert by Elvis impersonator Ryan Pelton and The Difference Band, two demolition derbies, and a "fireworks spectacular."

Pelton will be at the fair two nights - Friday and Saturday.

Nicole Donatone

On Friday night, country superstar Keith Urban will be performing at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Opening for him is another top country performer, Jake Owen.

The pre-show concert, in the AT&T Pavilion, will be by local singer Nicole Donatone, who recently released her first CD.

Donatone, employed by Penn's Peak Radio and who has been performing at various local carnivals and festivals, will be at the Pavilion from 5-7:15 p.m. You must have a ticket for the Keith Urban concert to attend Donatone's event.

Tickets are still available for the Pennsylvania Blues Festival at Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton.

The festival will take place over 2 days - Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st - at the Valley Lodge, located on the north side of Blue Mountain along the scenic-base.

A special feature of the festival is the Friday Night Pre-Fest Jam hosted by Chicago's own Studebaker John & The Hawks and a Saturday Night Jam hosted by Baltimore's own Big Daddy Stallings.

On Saturday evening, July 9, the Lehighton Band will be presenting a concert on the ball field at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park beginning at 7 p.m.

This is the third year that the band has performed at this venue and if this year is like the past, there will be a good crowd in attendance.

The concert is free and open to the public but you will need to bring a lawn chair as there is no seating on the field.

Paul R. Smith, conductor of the band, has selected a varied program with pieces sure to please everyone's choice of music.

JTAMS Productions Presents Greg Ransom's Benny and the Jets, an Elton John Tribute, at The Mauch Chunk Opera House at 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe, on Saturday, July 2, at 8:30 p.m.

Bennie and the Jets is the world's premiere Elton John Tribute Band. Greg Ransom whose vocals, on stage mannerisms, and piano playing are exactly like those of Elton John.

Greg has the ability to make you believe that you're at an Elton John concert.

The Lehighton Area Middle School music department will present a Summer Band concert on Friday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the middle school.

The sixth through eighth grade combined band will perform several pieces including "Sugar Creek Saga," "Bugs That Bug Me," and the theme from the cartoon Spongebob Squarepants. Furthermore, selected clarinet, saxophone, flute, and low brass students will be featured during the small ensemble portion of the concert.

"The Music Man," the legendary, award-winning iconic stage hit by Meredith Willson, has so many great songs that one can tend to overlook how funny and insightful an American musical it is.

"The Music Man" is about heartland America, with a cast of characters not unlike you and me. Well before Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegone eccentrics on "A Prairie Home Companion," there were the good folk of River City, Iowa.

Special to the TIMES NEWS Having the lead roles in the production of "Winnie-the-Pooh," which will be held at the Lehighton Borough Annex, are, Pooh, Zane Bachert; Rabbit, Mike Kabana; Piglet, Marissa Miller, and seated, Christopher Robin, Keith Shelly II.

The Children's Musical Theatre Group of Musique Performers will present "Winnie-the-Pooh" on Friday and Saturday in Lehighton

The musical will be staged in the Lehighton Borough Annex Auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show.

Zane Backert as the lead role of Winnie-the-Pooh and Kane Zerbe plays Eeyore.

Others in the performance are Kanga (Teah Garisson), Roo (Kim Klein), Owl (Ryan Mirorelli), and many of Christopher Robin's (Keith Shelly II) other friends as they journey through the Hundred-Acre Woods.

David Wilcox

Singer-Songwriter, David Wilcox will perform Friday, June 10, at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, at 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe.

"I write like my life depends on it." said Wilox.

He has sold over 750,000 discs and has been writing songs for 30 years.

Wilcox's music is distilled in a solid folk/blues/pop mode. He believes that the right song at the right time changes people's lives.

Wilcox sings with a mellow fluency that suggests James Taylor and the late Nick Drake.

Local country singer Nicole Donatone, who has opened at Penn's Peak and other venues for such major artists as Randy Travis, John Michael Montgomery, and Restless Heart, has her own Web site.

Donatone, who is employed at Penn's Peak Radio, is getting ready to release her first album. It was recorded at Ron Fairchild Music in Nashville, Tenn.
