Lehighton emergency personnel rescued an elderly woman Sunday morning after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming the rear of her residence.

A family at 228 N. Second street reported smoked at 226 N. Second St. about 10:30 a.m.

Fire companies from Lehihhton, Mahoning Valley and Franklin township responded.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to a local hospital.
