Medical imaging students receive scholarships

The Lambda Nu National Honor Society in radiologic and imaging services recently awarded two national scholarships to juniors enrolled in the Misericordia University Bachelor of science degree program in medical imaging.

Allison Beltz of Slatington, the daughter of Wesley and Maria Beltz, and Kaitlin Fink of Catawissa, the daughter of Joel and Deborah Fink, each were awarded competitive 2014 Lambda Nu scholarships. Lambda Nu has 160 chapters in 43 states across the country.Students in each of the chapters were eligible to apply for the 14 scholarships that were awarded nationally in the fall.Beltz was also involved in a service-learning project undertaken by students in the Misericordia University Medical Imaging Club, which raised almost $1,000 for the Center for Cancer Wellness, Candy's Place, and raised breast cancer awareness.Students raised $976.60 by selling T-shirts and homemade candy and cookies at the homecoming football game for Misericordia University.All the proceeds benefited the programs and services at the nonprofit agency in Forty Fort.The cancer wellness and resource center provides support to cancer patients and their loved ones.For more information about the services Candy's Place provides, go to
