'Hell House' filming wraps up

Five years after an unknown malfunction causes the death of multiple tourgoers at a Halloween haunted house opening night, a documentary film crew goes back to the scene of the incident to try to piece together what really happened.

If that sounds like the script for a feature horror movie, that's because it is, as the filming of "Hell House" wrapped up today at The Haunting at the Waldorf Hotel, located at 6235 Interchange Road in Lehighton, right next to the Country Junction.Producers began May 8 to film the feature horror movie at The Haunting at the Waldorf, and interest has remained high from passers-by who stop to observe the filming as part of their travels, according to Joe Bandelli, producer of Hell House LLC."The filming has been going really well," Bandelli said. "Every time you shoot a horror film in 11 days, it definitely wears on everyone a bit, but the entire cast and crew has been getting along like a family."Bandelli added, "It also really helps when everyone in the town is so supportive. We had one day where we had close to 100 extras show up and stick around for almost 12 hours just to be a part of the film," he said. "We can't say enough about the people of this community."The production will require extras today. Anyone who is interested may send their information to

hellhousemovie@yahoo.com.Bandelli said signs were hung up around the Waldorf saying "Hell House" or "Hotel Abaddon," which has drawn plenty of attention."It seems like people are stopping by the set almost every day asking to be a part of the film," he said. "I think it's safe to say it has been a positive reaction from visitors."Bandelli gave special thanks to Angie Moyer, owner of Waldorf Entertainment LLC, and her employees."Without their help, we never would have been able to accomplish all that we have," he said. "We truly love working with Angie, and hope that we can work with her again in the future."The cast and crew stayed at the Mahoning Inn and plan to come back in the fall for The Waldorf Estate of Fear's 10-year anniversary. The event will feature The Haunting at The Waldorf Hotel, Terror in the Corn, and the brand-new attraction, Infection, which opens Sept. 26, Bandelli said. For updates on the movie, visit the-haunting-at-the-waldorf-hotel on Facebook.
