3 arrested in Monroe on drug charges

The Monroe County Office of the District Attorney Criminal Investigations Division announced the arrests of three men after a search was conducted at a hotel room in Monroe County on Tuesday.

Monroe County Probation and Parole Officers received information that Branden Cabrerra, 29, of Effort was staying at a hotel located on Route 611 in Bartonsville. When officers went to the hotel room they found Christopher Farrero, 32, of East Stroudsburg and Dylan Smith, 28, of Stroudsburg.

In plain view parole officers observed drug paraphernalia and drugs and requested the assistance of the District Attorney Detectives and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

All three men were taken into custody.

Farrero had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for court in both Monroe County and Luzerne County. Smith, who is currently on parole, was taken into custody for a parole violation. Cabrera was also taken into custody for a probation violation.

The three men are now facing additional charges relating to the drugs and paraphernalia located in the room. The paraphernalia consisted of multiple syringes, both used and unused, a crack pipe, and empty heroin/fentanyl packets.

Additionally, detectives located a bag of heroin/fentanyl in the room along with a scale.

All three men are currently housed at the Monroe County Correctional Facility and will appear before MDJ Daniel Kresge at a later date.
