Rush approves 2020 budget

During a meeting Thursday, the Rush Township supervisors approved the 2020 budget, which does not include a tax increase. The township’s millage rate will remain at 5.62, which is broken down to 3.21 mills for the general fund, 0.50 for the building fund, 0.41 for fire departments and 1.5 mills for infrastructure.

The supervisors opened the meeting with a moment of silence to honor John Schickram, a former supervisor who passed away Dec. 14.

The supervisors also:

Accepted a $1,906 check from Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, from funds raised from the township police department’s Halloween 5K Run. The funds were donated to the township’s recreation fund and will be used to purchase seven baskets for the future disc golf course.

Announced that the 2020 reorganizational meeting and regular monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 6.

Established the Uniform Construction Code Board of Appeals, appointing Pat Caulfield, Dean DelFranco Sr. and Leon Sassaman.
