• James Boyle, 31, of Hazleton, was charged with three counts of driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary offenses after a Dec. 15 incident.

Police stopped a vehicle for a red light violation on West Blaine Street along with an inoperative passenger side brake light. Upon approaching the vehicle, police smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Boyle admitted to recently smoking marijuana and also handed over a small plastic bag of marijuana. He was given field sobriety tests and taken for a blood test, which showed THC, methamphetamine and fentanyl in his system.

• Franklin Rodriguez, 39, of Kelayres, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary offense for a headlight. Charges stem from a Dec. 1 incident.

Police stopped a vehicle for a burned out headlight. Upon speaking to Rodriguez, the driver, police smelled a strong odor of burned marijuana from inside the vehicle. Rodriguez told police that he smoked earlier and handed over a cigarette pack with a half-smoked roach in it. A field sobriety test was issued and Rodriguez was taken for a blood test. Results showed THC in his system.

• Jose Turbi Anziani, 23, of Hazleton, was charged with driving under the influence and two summary offenses for window tint. Charges stem from a Dec. 23 incident. After stopping Anziani’s vehicle for window tint, police detected a strong odor of marijuana while approaching the vehicle. Police asked if he had any marijuana. Anziani, the driver, said he did not, but that he smoked earlier. Police noticed his eyes were slightly red and blood shot.

Anziani was asked to take a field sobriety test, which indicated some signs of impairment. He was taken into custody. After a search of his vehicle, police found “shake” but nothing else. Anziani was taken to the hospital for a blood test, which he refused.
