Five defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence were sentenced Tuesday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed sentences on the following:John Russell Ciavaglia, 57, of Henryville, was sentenced to serve 60 days to six months in jail, a fine of $1,500, and license suspended for a year. Ciavaglia will serve 16 days in jail with the 44 remaining days in the county's Intermediate Punishing Program with electronic monitoring. He must also pay restitution for damages of $1,000.He was arrested on July 31, 2015, along Third Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton.He will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. on March 11 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.Wendy L. Danforth, 29, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to five years in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and her license was suspended for a year.She was arrested on Dec. 3, 2014, by state police at Lehighton in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts in Lehighton. Police were called by employees of the restaurant for a woman asleep in her vehicle for a long period of time. Troopers found Danforth in the car, with the engine running, and under the influence. Her 12-year-old daughter was in the vehicle. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. Two drugs counts were dropped in a plea bargain.Danforth admitted to a heroin addiction problem at the time.She will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. March 4.Kent Allen Vanbuskirk, 53, of Fleetwood, Berks County, who also lists an address in Albrightsville, was placed on probation for six months and fined $300 as a first offense.He was arrested on Sept. 20, 2015, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed a 0.23 BAC.Jason Eliot Gaudreau, 34, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months, pay a fine of $1,000, and license suspended for a year.He was arrested on Sept. 2, 2015, along Long Run Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin the jail term at 10 a.m. March 4.Matthew Peter Koch, 28, of Quakertown, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the county's IPP with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. The IPP will be supervised by Bucks County.Koch will begin the jail term at 7 p.m. March 4 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.On a possession of drug paraphernalia charge he was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI count.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
