in chargesNesquehoning police have charged Todd Hunsicker, 29, 67 E. Garibaidi Ave., with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving, as a result of a crash shortly after 9 p.m. March 21.According to the police report, patrolman Dane O'Brien responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Stock and Yard streets, finding a red sedan with heavy front-end damage and Hunsicker lying adjacent to the driver's-side door.Hunsicker was transported to Gnaden Huetten Hospital, Lehighton, for evaluation of his injuries and to have his blood drawn for testing.On April 8, NMS Labs notified O'Brien that Hunsicker's blood test showed the presence of Alprazolam and Oxycodone. Charges were filed with District Justice Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.Charged for drug paraphernaliaChad Muniz, 27, 317 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of an incident May 2.According to police, patrolman O'Brien was dispatched to 317 E. Catawissa St. for a report of an unwanted person and a dispute over property. When he arrived, Jennifer Mustacchio, a resident of that address, said that she'd had an argument on the phone with various family members about property left inside her residence.Mustacchio gave O'Brien permission to search the residence for the property. Instead, he found two clear glass pipes containing a white powdery substance, two metallic pipes containing green vegetable matter and three hypodermic needles with orange safety caps.Receiving stolenpropertyAn Effort woman has been charged with receiving stolen property and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence as a result of an incident March 12.According to police patrolman O'Brien responded March 12 to a report of a burglary at the resident of Kevin Kane, 110 W. Railroad St. Kane said that two iPads and jewelry had been taken from the residence.On April 25, an individual purchased an iPad from Lisa Marie Ciampaglia, 22, 131 Foothill Blvd. in Effort. The individual realized the iPad had been stolen due to a message that popped up on the iPad instructing her to call Kane.On April 26, Nesquehoning police interviewed Ciampaglia, who said she'd purchased the iPad in question for $100 from a person she identified as Marc Digilio, although she knew it had been stolen, according to the report.The case will be heard by District Justice Kosciolek.Two cited for DUI and careless drivingNesquehoning police have charged Leslie Shull, 40, 239 E. Catawissa St., with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving as the result of a traffic stop April 19.According to police, shortly before 1 a.m. April 19, patrolman O'Brien was on patrol on Route 209 when he saw a small black truck operating at an extremely slow speed. As he followed the vehicle, he noticed that the passenger-side tire was completely flat and sparks were coming from the tire rim.Shull agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miner's Campus for blood tests. Shull's blood alcohol concentration was .137.Shull is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving. The charges will be heard by District Justice Kosciolek.Daniel Sabol, 33, 39 W. Lehigh St. of Coaldale, has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving as a result of a traffic stop at 2:30 a.m. March 29.Nesquehoning police said that Sabol was travel east on Route 54 near Hauto Estates when Patrolman O'Brien saw Sabol's black sedan drift back and forth across the double yellow lines.Sabol agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miner's Campus for testing.NMS Labs notified Nesquehoning Police that Sabol's blood specimens revealed the presence of methamphetamine and morphine. The charges will be heard at District Justice Kosciolek.DUI and drugpossessionNesquehoning Police have charged Diane Marrero, 34, 937 Route 903, Jim Thorpe, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and violating vehicle lighting requirements as a result of traffic stop at 10 p.m. April 19.According to police, patrolman O'Brien saw a vehicle with an inoperable driver's side brake light operating on Route 209 near McDonald's Restaurant. As he talked with Marrero, the driver, he could smell marijuana and asked her about it. She then removed a marijuana "blunt" from the vehicle's ash tray, and O'Brien retained it.O'Brien told Marrero she was exhibiting signs of impairment and she agreed to submit to field sobriety tests. She was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of a narcotic. Upon conducting a search incident to the arrest, O'Brien found a grinder containing green vegetable matter, which Marrero said was hers and used to grind marijuana.Marrero was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miner's Campus for testing. According to the NMS Labs report, the blood test revealed the presence of marijuana. Marrero's case will be heard by District Justice Kosciolek.
