Nesquehoning man faces multiple charges

Lansford police have charged a Nesquehoning man with breaking into a borough home in June.

Corey L. Bilsak, 25, faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and giving police false information, according to a police report released Monday.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Shawn Nunemacher, at 8:05 p.m. June 6, he was dispatched to an East Ridge Street home to investigate a burglary. He spoke with the resident, who showed him the back door, which had been pried open with what appeared to be a screwdriver. The resident told Nunemacher she believed the intruder was Bilsak, who had previously done yard work for her. She said he had stolen money from her in the past and that was why he no longer worked for her. She gave Nunemacher a list of items she said had been taken, totaling $4,067.Nunemacher checked the Pennsylvania precious metals website and found that Bilsak had pawned items matching those on the list. They included a 14k men's onyx ring to Lehighton Coin and Gold on May 7. On May 9, he pawned a 20-inch 14k gold necklace, a 14k gold heart pendant, a 10k gold ring with red and white stones, and a ladies Bulova watch, all to West Hazleton Jewelry.Nunemacher documented the transactions with both shops; Bilsak had used his driver's license as identification. On June 7, Bilsak came to the police station for an interview. He was given his Miranda warning, which he waived. He told police he had bought the items at a yard sale two weeks before. On June 12, he told police he had bought the items at a yard sale in the 500 block of West Bertsch Street. There is no 500 block of West Bertsch. He then said he bought the items at a borough-wide yard sale two or three weeks before. The borough yard sale was on May 27 and May 28. The items were pawned on May 7 and May 9, two-and-a-half weeks before the date Bilsak said he had bought them.
