Four people injured in Schuylkill crash

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday in which one driver ran a red traffic light. The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 61 and University Drive in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Jeremy Schaner, 40, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2010 Nissan Sentra westbound on University Drive and stopped for a red light.He then made a left turn onto 61 while the light was still red where his vehicle was struck by a 1995 Buick LeSabre driven northbound by Anthony J. Frandsen, 32, of Pottsville.After impact the Buick traveled about 40 feet in a northwest direction through the northbound travel lanes and struck a PennDOT sign on a raised concrete median. After impact with the sign, the Buick continued to travel northwest for about 60 feet through the southbound travel lanes and onto the west berm.The Buick then traveled about 32 feet in a northwest direction down a slight embankment where it struck a tree with the front end. The Nissan came to rest at the point of impact.Passengers with Schaner, Tiffany A. Schaner, 38, and two juvenile females, ages 12 and 15, and Frandsen were all injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville Campus. Schaner and a juvenile passenger with Frandsen, a 1-year-old boy, were not injured.Troopers cited Schaner for the traffic light violation.
